When I consider every thing that grows

(Sonnet op basis van de eerste regel van Shakespeare's sonnet 15)

When I consider every thing that grows
takes center stage midsummer to display
its full abundance; then the blooming shows
that nature nurtures nature night and day.
Likewise, when duly treasured in the mind,
do human features strengthen and expand,
expressing in the truest loves entwined
or in the horror of a blood-stained hand.
But sadness swells the most when most ignored.
While woe and heartache slap the soul in waves,
with anguish spreading of its own accord,
a willing welcome turns the tide that raves.
Give sorrow words, for grief that has no say
will break the heart and lock its love away.

The Gift of Freedom and of Peace
September 2014
In commemoration of the liberation of Geldrop

on 16 September 1944, 70 years ago.

Rejoice today, for in the skies above
the clouds roll by and birds fly on the breeze
The blooming blossoms softly speak of love
and of the gift of freedom and of peace

Rejoice today, for we pay tribute here
to those that came in answer to our pleas
and brought to us an offering so dear:
the precious gift of freedom and of peace

The countless soldiers sent into the fray
the bold and brave and those that were afraid -
their courage we remember on this day
their honor symbolized by wreaths here laid

Our gratitude continues without cease
to grace the gift of freedom and of peace

Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep
Mary Elizabeth Frye, 1932

Vertaling, augustus 2014

Sta niet bij mij graf, huil niet;

in koele klare ochtendlucht
met ruisen van een vogelvlucht.

Sta niet bij mijn graf, ween niet;
Ik ben niet dood, ik lig daar niet.

Inspired by ACIM, 2012
How full is love and true
with fear behind and peace ahead.
How still the way I'm being led
the way that leads to You.

My home awaits my glad return
Your arms are open: I hear Your gentle voice.
Why linger in a place of pain
when heaven's here; it is my choice

The sons of love need seek no more
their foolish thoughts have failed
for Love, that which created them,
has waited and prevailed.

In peace I was created
by peace I am embraced
no longer separated
God's truth remains unchanged

Inspired by two lines in MacBeth, WS, November 2012

When grief and sorrow slap the soul in waves,
your willing welcome turns the tide that raves.
Give sorrow words, for grief without a say
will break the heart and lock its love away.

Sauce 1976
When you look at the sky with evening in birth,
it looks like a lid that covers the earth,
that covers the flowers, the birds and the trees.
In this pan their happiness proceeds.

But man who thinks to be the winner
makes a lump in the sauce of space's dinner.
